Some of you may be aware of Alain's progress.  Alain's wife Els highly commends the support provided to Alain and her during their ordeal. We encourage your support of this non-profit Centre in recognition of their assistance Alain and Els. Further information on on Aphasia and the Centre can be found at: http://aphasiaottawa.org/."

25- 27 Sep 2014 - The 13th Annual RCAA Seminar  and  128th Annual General Meeting
Notice of Meeting - Mark Your Calendars
St Jean - Quebec.
An RCAA special Guest Night will be held

The Royal Canadian Artillery Association (RCAA) has planned a professional development session, in conjunction with their Annual General Meeting (AGM), which will be conducted 26-27 Sep 14 at College militaire royal (CMR) St-Jean (St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Qc).  The main focus of this training activity will be the working session to be held Friday 26 Sep where The Royal Regiment intends to articulate a strategy that will ensure the future existence of a capable and relevant artillery branch in Canada.
This activity, along with the AGM, is fully supported by the Senior leadership of The Royal Regiment.  We strongly encourage you, along with members of your Regiments (regardless of rank), to attend this professional development session and contribute in sustaining The Royal Regiment operational relevance. Your input and attendance to this activity is important for the future of The Regiment. Letters of invitation from Colonel Commandant and Senior Serving Gunner to all Gunners are attached.   Administrative details will be distribute by RHQ and posted on the Arty website when available. We are looking forward to see you at CMR St-Jean.

Friday, 18 July 2014 Artillery Lunch
It's pizza time in the Mess! There might not be that many Gunners in attendance because many of us have wandered off over the summer months. (Your blogger has arrived on the West Coast and is making slow progress to the Haida Gwai). On the other hand, the Army Officers' Mess will be closed for two weeks starting Saturday and there might be a large crowd in attendance for a last Friday before August 8th. C'mon down and see who's in the OP!

Artillery Mixed Guest Night, 22 May 2014
The Ottawa Gunners will be hosting a mixed guest night on 22 May 2014. This a great opportunity to get together with our spouses and dine with the Artillery community in Ottawa. Invitations, pricing and other details will be sent out in the near future. In the meantime, mark your calendars!

Friday, 16 May 2014 Artillery Lunch
It's looking good for another Artillery Lunch at the Army Officers' Mess in Ottawa. Bring a Gunner friend along and lets see if we can get a large crowd. The menu calls for Chicken Roasted Tuscan! There's a rumour that Roch and Fred might be enticed to make an appearance from their retirement out in the west side of town.

National Day of Honour - 9 May 2014
The government of Canada has released their plans to mark the end of our country’s military mission in Afghanistan. There will be a national ceremony on Parliament Hill that will pay tribute to the fallen, the sacrifices of the wounded, and the special burden borne by families. Further details can be viewed on the linked website.

Thursday, 17 April 2014 Artillery Lunch
Make sure you mark your calendars for this month's Friday gathering. We've moved it ahead by a day to fit in the Good Friday holiday. C'mon up to the OP and we'll see what outrageous plans there are for the Easter weekend! Looks like the meal will be a Slouvaki Bar!

Great time was had by all! Unfortunately, I was not aware that the Army Officers' Mess does not move our Artillery Lunch location to make up for a stat holiday. Will have to remember that for the future. Good thing an alternate position was found and and all callsigns made it to that location. Surprise visitor this week was Colonel Mark Hodgson! Haven't seen him since his DAD days in Kingston. Always a great time to chat with Bob Heitshu, Bob Gunn, Andrew Chaplin and Bud Walsh. (Nice jacket, Bud!) I must remember to bring the camera next month.
Kingston Gunner Breakfast, 29 March 2014
Once again a gunner breakfast is being hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 560 in Kingston. Need a minimum of at least 25,  there were 32 at the last breakfast including gunners from Ottawa, Windsor, Peterborough & Napanee. Ron Fillier won the 50/50 draw, everyone enjoyed  themselves & old stories were told.
If you would like to play a round of golf, we are also planning a golf & BBQ day for May, so if you are planning to come in March please indicate if you would also like to play golf for our May event. Right now we don't know  the cost, it will depend upon the number of interested people, we are looking  forward for another great day next month, hope to see you there.
Wayne& Eric
Please reply directly to Eric Coombs   or Wayne Samms if you are going to attend.
Friday, 21 March 2014 Friday Lunch at the Army Officers' Mess
Mark your Calendars? Let's see if we can get a good turn out of fellow Gunners and trade some really bad lies! There I was, in the OP at Hohenfels, American 175mm regiments all around...... Then again, if you have any of those types of stories, please put pen to paper (or send me an email) and we can share them on our website!
Friday, 21 February 2014 Friday Lunch at the Army Officers' Mess
The Gunners that were present had a great presentation from Major Richard Little on his experiences as an UNMO in Lebanon during 2012 and 2013 as a member of UNIFIL. Unfortunately, your writer was ill-prepared with the appropriate camera equipment necessary to record the event in a manner that would do it justice. I must apologize for the quality. Anybody willing to volunteer as the photographer for the next Ottawa Gunner event?
Friday, 21 June 2013 Friday Lunch at the Army Officers' Mess
There was a stalwart crew on this fine June afternoon. Looks very dark! But that's only because we were forced into the dark stables due to the renovations in the Engineer conference room. Great time was had by all!
